Week 2

Hello again!

This already feels surprisingly normal—to sit down and write out my thoughts and feelings like this. I’ve never been much of a diary person. I’m not even sure why. It just never felt like me, if that makes sense? Maybe it’s the idea that someone might read it and use it against me somehow. The whole notion of vulnerability can be a bit unsettling. But here I am, pouring my week and my emotions into a blog for all to see. How strange is that? Life really does have a way of surprising you!

Sooo... the elves have arrived! They made their grand entrance over the weekend, armed with the kids’ advent calendars and a whole arsenal of mischief. They’ve already been up to their usual antics—climbing the Christmas tree, decorating it with underpants (classic elf chaos!), and even leaving a colouring sheet for my youngest. Not bad for a first week, I suppose! They’re behaving themselves for now... but I’m keeping a close eye on them. Check out the pictures if you get the chance—it’s been quite the spectacle!

How I’m Doing This Week

Ah, the gym streak. Let’s just say my grand plans didn’t last as long as I’d hoped this time. Night shifts are the main culprit here. They always throw off my routine. I wrestle with this guilt about leaving for the gym an hour early before work, because it means leaving Lyndsey to handle the kids after she’s already had a long day at work herself. Not exactly fair, is it?

I could try going after everyone’s out for school and work before heading to bed, but, honestly, the call of my warm, comfortable bed is just too strong by then. Can you blame me? Still, I managed to make it yesterday (Monday) and plan to go again today with my mate Joe. Turning gym time into a bit of a dad social makes it even better—it’s good to catch up while getting in a workout. So all’s not lost!

What’s Coming Up

I’m really looking forward to the rest of the week. It’s not been a full week since my last post, so there’s still lots to unfold. One of the highlights I’m most excited about is recording with Nick on Thursday night. It’s honestly my favourite part of the week. What looks to the outside world like 90 minutes of podcast recording is actually closer to three hours of catching up, chatting, and sharing what’s going on in our lives. It’s a proper recharge for the soul.

Nick has been an absolute rock for me as a friend. We’ve been through so much together since we started this content-creating journey back in 2018. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without his support. Love ya, Nick!

Other than that, I’ve got a few more gym sessions lined up and three night shifts to power through over the weekend. Should be a laugh… or at least I’ll try to make it one!

Elf Antics and Final Thoughts

In the meantime, thanks for taking the time to read this. If you’ve got elves at home, let me know what kind of trouble they’ve been causing—it’s always fun to swap ideas (or warnings!).

Until next week,
Sean
