Week 3

Well, hello there!

Welcome back to week 3 — or should I call it Issue 3? I’m still not entirely sure how I want to introduce these posts, but I’m confident I’ll figure it out as the weeks go by. For now, though, hello and welcome back! I’m genuinely glad you’re here, taking the time to catch up with me.

To be honest, not a great deal has happened since last week—or at least nothing I can talk about just yet. But stay tuned! There’s some exciting news on the horizon that I’m so incredibly proud to share. It’s not about me, but I couldn’t be prouder nonetheless!

Proud Dad Moment

One of the highlights of this past week was Logan’s parents’ evening. Now, as expected, we heard the usual feedback: he’s easily distracted, he rushes his work, and he needs to practise focusing a bit more. But you know what? He’s 7 years old, and I’m not going to be too hard on him for that.

Logan is such a bright, expressive little guy. He’s creative, imaginative, and constantly curious about the world around him. Trying to focus on sums and tasks that don’t spark your interest while your mind is buzzing with a million other thoughts isn’t easy—especially when the world around you is ever-changing.

What truly warmed my heart, though, was hearing his teacher talk about how he’s always smiling, so polite, and incredibly kind. That’s what I value most. I love that Logan is growing into such a well-mannered, compassionate, and loving soul. So, thank you to his teacher for highlighting that, and thank you, Logan, for being exactly who you are. You make me so proud every single day.

A New Addition: Meet Lola

We’ve welcomed a fourth “child” into the house. Don’t panic—I’m not becoming a dad again! Lyndsey has started her very own sourdough starter, and we’ve named her Lola. She’s just over a week old now, and exciting news: she passed the float test! That means she’s ready to bake her first loaf of bread any day now.

I have to say, my waistline might not be ready for this new addition to the house, but my taste buds certainly are! Lyndsey is an incredibly talented baker, and the loaves she’s made so far have been absolutely fantastic. I can’t wait to see what she creates with Lola.

A Quiet Week of Procrastination

It’s been my week off work, and while I’d love to tell you I’ve been super productive, the reality is a bit different. I’ve spent a fair bit of time procrastinating—hitting the gym, doing laundry, and playing far more Call of Duty than I probably should have. No regrets, though!

I’ve also been trying to take care of my knee (more on that another day, I promise). Resting it has been a priority because I’ve got a trip to Vienna coming up on the 20th. It’s a late birthday treat and an early Christmas getaway to visit the famous Christmas markets, eat, drink, and just soak in the festive vibes. I’m beyond excited for it!

Reflections on the Week

So, that’s been my week—a quiet one, but sometimes that’s just what you need. I mean, sure, it would be fun to share some wild story or adventure, but there’s also something really nice about having the time to sit back and relax.

This time of year can be tough, can’t it? The dark, wet weather in the UK and the shorter days can really take a toll, especially when you’re working shifts and hardly see any daylight. And then there’s the stress that comes with Christmas—making sure everything is ready, ticking off the lists for Santa, and keeping up with the nightly antics of the elves. If you know, you know!

But amidst all the chaos, I hope you take a little time for yourself. Do something that makes you smile—it really does make a difference.

Until next week,
Sean
